In continuation with the activities conducted by “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” club of Apeejay College of Fine Arts this month, students whole-heartedly participated and created models of famous monuments of the country.
Jalandhar: In continuation with the activities conducted by “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” club of Apeejay College of Fine Arts this month, students whole-heartedly participated and created models of famous monuments of the country. Indian monuments represent one of the most outstanding facets of the multi-faceted culture of the country. Club members created models of Lotus Temple, Char Minar, Gateway of India, India Gate, Meenakshi Temple, Qutub Minar, Howrah Bridge, Golden Temple, Akal Takht, Jantar Mantar, Sanchi Stupa, Kedarnath Temple etc. The students beautifully carved out and decorated miniatures of these splendid monuments using sun board, plaster of paris, straws, paper, beads, toothpicks, mount board, laces etc. Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra along with praising efforts of students said she was happy that the students had made these models with great dedication and hard work. She said the aim of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” club was to make the youth aware of the importance of India’s heritage and to tell them that India has no match in shilpa art, building construction art and durga nirman art and this is the rich culture of India which is also reflected in its wonderful heritage. She appreciated the great and inspiring efforts of Dr Rajni Kumar, who is the dean of the club.
LPU’s two-week PCP programme
The Directorate of Distance Education at Lovely Professional University (LPU-DE) conducted a two-week long online “Personal Contact Programme” (PCP) for its distance education students. The live virtual classes were conducted through the “MyClass” platform of Learning Management System-LPU e-Connect. Thousands of students from different locations participated in the online contact programme, and got required academic counselling from subject experts of the university. Based on the online registration of students; LPU-DE conducted PCP classes in the disciplines of management, computer applications, information technology, commerce, library and information sciences, economics, education, English, Hindi, Punjabi, history, political science, psychology and sociology. Around 231 faculty members conducted classes for almost 482 courses. The classes were delivered based on pre-prepared instructional plans, covering all important topics of the syllabus for various courses. Students’ queries were discussed and resolved on the spot. MBA student Sneha Singla said: “I am very grateful to LPU-DE that I got an opportunity to attend PCP classes. It seemed to me that it was a little difficult for a working class student like me to study and grasp the entire material from the books. These classes made my subjects easy, and I got to know the right strategy on how to score good marks in exams while gaining complete knowledge about the concerned subject.”
Students of Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions from the School of Hotel Management and Information Technology have got international placements. Lakshay Duggal of BHMCT (Semester VIII) has got selected as a culinary chef at Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel, US, at a package of $2,800 per month and Sharndeep Kaur of BHMCT (Semester VI) got selected as a trainee at JW Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort, South Carolina, US, in the Culinary Department at a package of $3,980 per month. Both the students have joined their respective organisations. In addition to this, 10 students have already cleared the company interview and received their offer letters. Ekta Thakur of BCA (Semester VI) got selected as a web developer by Cantor Technologies, Australia, for a package of $3,268 per month. Dr Anup Bowry (Chairman, Innocent Hearts Group) wished luck to the students and applauded the endeavors of the team for getting international placement of their students. Harmohinder (Head, School of Hotel Management) stated that there would be more placement as well as internship opportunities in future to make the students employable.
Model Town Apeejay gets new Principal
Malkiat Singh joined as the Principal of Apeejay School, Model Town. He has previously worked for 19 years with MGN Education Trust, Kapurthala, and has remained successful in delivering positive results. Malkiat Singh thanked Sushma Paul Berlia, president of the Apeejay Education Society, in bestowing trust and faith in him and promised to fulfill the expectations with utmost sincerity. He was handed over the charge by NN Nayyar (education advisor) and Girish Kumar (principal, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg). The staff of Apeejay School, Model Town, warmly welcomed the new principal.
Staff bids farewell to college dept head
Staff and Principal of Lyallpur Khalsa College on Wednesday bid farewell to Dr Gopal Singh Buttar, Head, Punjabi Department of the college, who attained superannuation after a meritorious service of 22 years. Speaking on the occasion, college Principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra applauded the dedication and commitment of Dr Buttar to the cause of education and teaching community. On the occasion, a citation letter from the college management was given to Dr Buttar, as a mark of appreciation of his services. Sharing his memories and experiences, Dr Buttar expressed his thanks to his colleagues and the college management. In his farewell speech, he expressed his sense of belongingness with the institution and commitment to the society. On the occasion, he gave a detailed account of the history and achievements of the Punjabi Department. Dr Buttar and his wife were also honoured by the teaching staff and the Principal. Prof Jasreen Kaur, Dean, Academic Affairs, presented a vote of thanks on the occasion. The stage on the occasion was managed by staff secretary Dr Rashpal Singh Sandhu.
HMV Collegiate kids bring laurels
Students of HMV Collegiate School have brought laurels to the institute by securing ninth position in the state and second and third positions in the district in the PSEB Class XII result. Vanshita Mohindru of humanities stream achieved marvelous success by securing the nine rank in the state merit list and second rank in Jalandhar district by securing 97.8 per cent and Jasneet Dhanjal secured the third position in the district with 97.6 per cent marks, Mehak with 96 per cent procured the third position at school level, Gungun Verma secured the fourth position with 95.8 per cent marks. In commerce stream, Shamli Verma secured 97.2 per cent marks, Tania Verma 96.2 per cent, Jiya 95.2 per cent, Ankita 94.8 per cent secured first, second, third and fourth positions respectively. In non-medical stream, Smriti Sharma attained first position with 95 per cent marks, Upinder second with 94.2 per cent, Anubha and Jasmeen attained third 94 per cent and Ira Bhatia fourth position with 93.894 per cent. In medical stream, Diya Ahuja stood first with 92.8 per cent, Simran Sodhi second with 90.6 per cent, Ishika Sharma third with 89.2 per cent and Saloni and Nishtha fourth with 87.4 per cent. A total of 11 students achieved over 95 per cent marks and 60 students secured over 90 per cent marks, 61 students 85 per cent and over 56 students secured above 80 per cent marks. Principal Ajay Sareen and School Coordinator Meenakshi Sayal congratulated the students for their splendid performance and also wished them to be successful in their future endeavours.
Class XII pupils shine in PSEB results
Students of Soldier Group of Institutions brought laurels to the school by securing good marks in the Punjab School Education Board Class XII result. In St Soldier Inter College Friends Colony, in commerce, Ishita scored 92.5 per cent marks, Geetika scored 92.5 per cent, Gurleen Kaur scored 91.4 per cent, Gurleen Kaur scored 91.4 per cent, Ishika scored 90.4 per cent, Chetan 90 per cent, in medical Amit scored 90.2 per cent. In St Soldier Collegiate School, Danishmanda, in commerce, Anuj Kumar scored 90.2 per cent. Congratulating the students and their parents, Chairman Anil Chopra, Vice-Chairperson Sangeeta Chopra, while motivating them to move forward, said the students who want to come to St Soldier for higher education, would be awarded the Master Rajkanwar Chopra Scholarship.
KCL Collegiate girls perform well
The students of KCL Collegiate School for Girls, Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women, performed well in the Punjab School Education Board Class XII exams. Arshpreet scored 87 per cent while Rehatpreet got 86 per cent marks. It is worth mentioning that all sports students and national players scored above 80 per cent. The results were 100 per cent. From Commerce, Rimpy secured 83 per cent marks while Riya got 82 per cent. Principal Dr Navjot congratulated the students. She also appreciated the efforts of school in-charge Harpreet Kaur and Navdeep Singh for their efforts and guidance.
DIPS students shine in Class XII results
In the Punjab School Education Board Class XII exams, the results of which were released recently, students of GB School, Dhilwan, which is a part of DIPS chain, performed well and secured good marks. In the examination, Jashanjot Kaur of scored 92.4 per cent marks in arts stream, Gurpreet Kalsi scored 90.6 per cent in commerce, Harvinder Kaur scored 90.2 per cent in arts. While wishing luck to all students who secured good marks in the examination, MD Tarwinder Singh motivated them to perform similarly well in the coming future. He hoped that they would choose the right path for a bright career. While congratulating the school principals, children and their parents, CEO Monica Mandotra inspired them to bring laurels to the Dips chain by always scoring good marks.
