The 75th year of independence was celebrated with great pomp at the Sanchi Buddhist Indian University of Knowledge Studies.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Neerja Gupta hoisted the flag. Students presented patriotic programs on Independence Day celebrated this year under the Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi.

Retired Company Havildar of Indian Army Jai Singh Tomar attended the program organized at Sanchi University of Buddhist-Indian Knowledge Studies as the chief guest.  Tomar has made the Indian Army proud by participating in three wars and battles. In 1965 against Pakistan in Barmer, with China in 1967 at the Nathula Pass, and in 1971 with Pakistan in which Bangladesh was separated from Pakistan. Shri Tomar was also presented the Battle of Honours by the President.

He said thay freedom is easy to achieve but difficult to maintain. Vice Chancellor Neerja Gupta in his address said that if the country has to be included in the category of developed countries, then every person will have to act like a fighter. The Vice Chancellor said that the British had divided the Indian society under a conspiracy.

He kept on doing only division, division of caste-religion, division of man and woman, division of city and village. He said that the definitions given by the Greeks are read but the knowledge texts of Sanskrit are not paid attention to whereas Sanskrit gave knowledge to the whole world. Gupta said that Al-Biruni studied Indian texts written in Sanskrit and translated them into Spanish, which we quote today. Registrar Prof. Alkesh Chaturvedi said that the country should always remember its history because the country that forgets its history ends.

Under the Amrit Mahotsav of Azadi, the students also gave many presentations on Independence Day.
