•    Liu Qiren celebrates Am podium success in Zhuhai •    Adolf Lee leads Super Trofeo Class after two victories •    Brian Lai and Wu Sibin on Super Trofeo Class podium The four-strong Lamborghini entry for Round 3 of the 2022 GT Super Sprint Challenge (GTSSC) saw Liu Qiren celebrate two Am podium finishes at the 4.318km Zhuhai International Circuit, while Adolf Lee continued to strengthen his bid to defend his Super Trofeo Class title with two class victories. Finishing 2nd in the Am Class in both Races 1 and 2, Parkview Motorsport driver Liu was also fourth overall in both races. Also scoring a top-five overall finish in Race 2 was Lee of TRT Racing, while Parkview Motorsport driver Brian Lai was sixth overall in the second race of the weekend.  Lai finished second in the Super Trofeo Class in both races, while YC Racing’s Yu Sibin was classified third in the category. Having missed the first two rounds of the season, Liu is, after the weekend’s success, fourth on the GT3 Am leaderboard. Lee, the 2021 GTSSC Super Trofeo Class champion, arrived in Zhuhai on equal points for first, but now has a commanding lead in the category having won four consecutive races. Wu is second in the category while Lai, who missed out on the first two rounds of the season, is fourth. TRT Racing continues to lead the GTC Team ranking. Race 1 While Liu Qiren started from the fifth row of the grid, the Parkview Motorsport driver quickly took advantage of early opportunities to move up the order and by the end of the opening lap he was running third. But any future opportunities for advancement were paused when, on the following lap, the safety car was called out. When racing resumed, Li dropped back a place and although he stayed close to his rival, he was also forced to defend his position. Li did just that and at the end of the 16-lap race he found himself both on the Am podium in second and fourth overall. Adolf Lee led the Super Trofeo Class entries in qualifying, starting Race 1 from 11th, just ahead of Brian Lai, with Wu Sibin back a further three rows. Like Liu, Lee’s opening lap was a strong one as he made up six places to move into fifth overall to lead the Super Trofeo Class. But following the Safety Car period, Lee slipped back a few places and crossed the line eighth overall, but with another Super Trofeo Class victory. It was also a strong opening race for Liu’s Parkview Motorsport teammate Brian Lai, who moved up three places to earn a top-10 overall finish and second in the Super Trofeo Class ahead of YC Racing’s Wu Sibin. Race 2 The four Lamborghini entries lined up in the same order as they had for Race 1 and all got away cleanly at the start. While Liu and Lee each dropped a place on the second lap, Liu retook the position a lap later as he continued to look for a second top-10 finish of the weekend. As the race progressed, Lee continued to lead the Super Trofeo Class from Lai and Wu. Drama hit late in the race when an incident brought out the safety car. With just minutes on the clock, racing resumed, only for a second incident to force the safety car out once again. Post-race penalties promoted Liu to fourth overall ahead of Lee and Lai, who were fifth and sixth overall, respectively. Lee also celebrated another Super Trofeo Class victory, with Lai second and Wu finishing third in the category. With three rounds and six races complete, the GT Super Sprint Challenge next moves to Shanghai for the penultimate double-header of the 2022 season from September 17-18.   GT Super Sprint Challenge Round 3 results Race 1 GT3 Class 4th overall and 2nd Am/#33.
