Sinopec operated Fuling shale field in China's Chongqing Municipality produced record shale gas during the first six months of the year, state-owned Xinhua news agency reported on July 4.

The field produced 3.63bn of shale gas in the first half, up 1.9% year/year. During the same period, 46 new wells were put into production, the news agency reported.

Fuling became operational in 2014 and serves as a key source of supply for the Sichuan-East pipeline. State-owned Sinopec recently added 104.9bn m3 of proven reserves, bringing the field’s total proven reserves to nearly 900bn m3, accounting for 34% of China's total proven reserves of shale gas.

Sinopec earlier this year said it plans to produce 1,256.7bn ft3 or 35.59bn m3 of natural gas in 2022, up 4.8% yr/yr. The growth target this year is much lower than the growth rate of 11.9% in 2021.
