Description:
Pubescent angelica root is the root of Angelica Pubescens Maxim.f. biserrata Shan et Yuan (double-teeth pubescent angelica), a perennial plant, of the Umbelliferae/Apiaceae family. Native to east Asia, it is grown in China and Japan. In China, it is mainly produced in the provinces of Sichuan, Hubei, Anhui, etc. Angelica is a large genus of aromatic herbs of the Umbelliferae/Apiaceae family. The roots and fruit of the Eurasian species, Angelica archangelica, yield angelica oil used to flavor liquors and in perfumery, while the tender shoots are applied in making certain kinds of aromatic sweetmeats; tea made from the roots and leaves is a traditional medicine for respiratory ailments. The perennial plant grows to about 1.8 m high.
